New Pieces to Artifacts Gallery in Peakland Crossing

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I am busy uploading things to etsy (www.etsy.com/shop/baublemarket) and stocking the galleries for Black Friday, so I was able to sneak in the time to make a couple of new pieces.

img_7714.JPG The photo does not do this piece justice, but it is made using light blue vintage crystal. I was fortunate enough to find several antique necklaces in the same hue so that I could make a graduated necklace interspersed with sterling silver and also matching earrings.

img_7718.JPG The deep red of these crystal beads will be perfect for the holidays. I had exactly enough beads to make the two stranded necklace with a matching pair of earrings … I only had one bead left to spare, but I love the results of this design.

Bridal Pieces

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Recently I had the privilege of working with a bride, Rachael, who chose The Bauble Market for her bridal jewelry and the jewelry for her bridesmaids. It was such an honor for me to make the jewelry because Rachael was a very special bride … she has babysat for our family for several years, and our children LOVE her.  Enjoy these photos from her wedding, and thank you to Michael Lupino Photography in Virginia Beach for these images.

Rachael made a beautiful bride, and I was thrilled to make a jewelry set for her special day. Her three strand necklace and earrings were made with Swarovski pearls, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver.

Rachael is VERY special to our family. She has babysat for us for years, and I had the privilege of making jewelry for her and her bridesmaids. Each bridesmaid received earrings and a matching necklace. The necklaces had 3 strands, which included Swarovski pearls, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver. They all looked beautiful!!

My girls were the train bearer and flower girl, so of course I had to specially design some jewelry for them, too. I also made their headbands (hey, it is amazing what you can do with a glue gun … for the headbands, NOT the jewelry :) ).

We wish Rachael and Christian a great start to their marriage and many blessings for years to come. Thank you for letting us share in your special day in so many different ways!

New Pieces to The Little Gallery on Smith Mountain Lake

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

The Christmas season has already begun out at the lake, so I needed to freshen things up and take new pieces out to The Little Gallery on Smith Mountain Lake. Here is a sampling of what is out there now.  They have two locations … one in Westlake and the other at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta.

img_7685.jpg

It is always fun to have a little holiday bling, and this vintage glass leaf is complemented by red, green and clear … perfect for the holidays!!

img_7703.JPG Again, I enjoy using unusual elements in my designs, and I LOVE this vintage filagree button, which is paired with vintage glass and sterling silver.

img_7679.JPG This is yet another vintage decorative element from a piece of furniture. I love how it looks like some sort of ancient medallion … what a statement piece!!

img_7706.JPG The focal point of this necklace is a beautiful, vintage amber crystal bead. It is perfectly framed, and will complement a variety of purple hues.

img_7697.JPGBracelets are always a quick pick up for gifts, and these vintage beaded bracelets are the perfect gift for a friend.  Glass and crystal are paired with sterling silver in these original designs.

Now that the holiday season is almost upon us, The Bauble Market would love to help you pick out the perfect gift for someone. From pieces on our website to custom designs and gift certificates … we can help you! Also, feel free to browse our selections on etsy at www.etsy.com/shop/baublemarket.

Projects Waiting in the Wings

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Ok, to say that I am obsessed with vintage beads is definitely an understatement!! I have SO many necklaces that are waiting to be taken apart and reworked into beautiful creations, but I still can not stop scouring antique markets and shops for the lovely pieces.  Here are some of the beads I have, and I will put them to good use soon … some will be hard to part with!!

img_7509.jpg

I absolutely LOVE to travel, and these are some necklaces that I picked up at the Portobello Road market in London, England. I had a GREAT time shopping for beads there!!

img_7506.JPG

These glass jars are filled with beads … both from the Portobello Road market in London and from another outdoor market in Vienna, Austria (my daughter and I froze in Vienna, but I was thrilled with my finds!!).

img_7517.JPG

You will notice a recurring theme here as these beads came from my second trip to London’s Portobello Road, although these came from a shop, not a market, because the market is only on Saturday (of course I had to hit the shops anyway!).

The picture does not do the size of this justice, but this is an enormous pile of vintage necklaces that I just keep buying and buying (and buying). Oh, and these are from the good old United States of America.  I have so many that it will take a little while to get through them all, but I am happy that I have a lot to choose from so that I can do whatever project I am in the mood to do … it allows for creativity for sure!

Hopefully you enjoyed this sneak peek at my bead stash (I have SO many more), and maybe someday I will do a post on my workspace … where all of the projects happen (or at least where all of the supplies are stored).  Have a wonderful day!!

Victorian Beads

Monday, November 16th, 2009

These sweet little earrings are made using VERY vintage beads that are from the Victorian era. The beads are made of glass and came from a necklace that was in disrepair. I love these little beads and use them VERY sparingly (hence the fact that they are made into earrings). I love the fact that these are great “everyday” earrings since they are a translucent white color, and the findings are sterling silver.  These are also available here on our blog or at Artifacts Gallery in Peakland Crossing for $26.

A Sneak Peek at New Pieces

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

I recently took some new pieces to Artifacts Gallery in Peakland Crossing in Lynchburg, VA. It has been a long time since I have updated my blog, so I am going to try to be more consistent and update everyone with all of the goings on here at The Bauble Market. Enjoy viewing some of my new pieces!!

img_7450.jpg This pink and brown necklace was made using crystal, glass, rose quartz and a wooden keyhole (all vintage!!) accented by 14K gold filled findings.

img_7452.jpg A vintage brass drawer accent (remember when dressers had drawer pulls? this is the decorative piece that went behind the pull) is highlighted in this piece, which is complemented by black vintage crystal and 14K gold filled findings.

img_7454.JPG I purchased a set of these darling buttons at an antique store in upstate PA, and I just could not resist pairing one of them with vintage amber and aqua glass beads (also designed with 14K gold filled accents).

img_7457.JPG Call me crazy, but I fell in love with this piece!! The focus is a vintage keychain tag. It has a VA driver’s license plate number on it (from 1960), and it guaranteed that your keys would be returned to you if they were lost.  All the finder had to do was deposit the keychain into a mailbox, and it would be shipped to a company (listed on the back of the tiny license plate) that would return the keys to their owner.  I love how this piece pairs the funky with the refined in the fact that the vintage beads are made with black and clear crystal.  New sterling silver completes this fun conversation piece.

img_7464.JPG I am definitely a sucker for vintage pressed glass beads, and these red ones are truly some of the finest that I have found.  They are so special to me that I chose a simple design in order to keep the original beauty of these perfect floral motif beads. Sterling silver also completes this design.

I hope that you have enjoyed perusing through some of my new accessories for the fall/winter, and I am looking forward to sharing more with you soon!  If you would like to visit Artifacts Gallery, please visit my website and click on “news” to view our current exhibits. Thanks for stopping by The Bauble Market.
